Larceny Arrest

On 07/19/2017 at approx. 11:00 pm Timothy D. Hughes, age 35 of Waterbury, CT. was taken into custody at the East Haven Police Department on an active warrant from the Southington Police Dept. Hughes was in East Haven PD custody on unrelated charges. Hughes was transported to Southington where he was processed and charged with Larceny 6th Degree and Criminal Impersonation. Hughes was released on a $1000.00 non-surety bond and given a court appearance date of 07/31/17 for the Bristol Superior Court. After being released from Southington, Hughes was turned over to the Waterbury Police Dept who also had an active arrest warrant for Hughes on an unrelated charge.

Details: The warrant stems from an investigation on 05/08/17 5:48 am when Officers responded to 1875 Meriden Waterbury Road, T/A Travel Center, on a reported Theft complaint. The warrant alleges that on that date Hughes entered the garage area of the Travel Center and purported to be from a company that handles the disposal of used tires and tire casings. The used tires / casings from the Travel Center were loaded into Hughes’ van. When the employees asked for paperwork from Hughes he allegedly pulled over as if he was going to produce paperwork for the tires and casings, however he drove off the property without producing the paperwork. The Travel Center employees were able to obtain a license plate on Hughes’ van.

The Travel Center reported that 14 used tires / casings valued at $100.00 each were taken during this incident.
